The conference was held at the San Francisco Marriott from September 1 to 4, 1995, with approximately 500 attendees, including about 200 participants from Korea. Dr. Tongil Chu (Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory) and Dr. Un Young Kim served as co-chairs of the conference.
The conference was organized into several workshops, including Biotechnology; Information Highway and Multimedia; High Performance Materials; and Materials for the Aerospace Industry. In contrast to the 1994 conference in Washington, DC, this meeting was characterized by papers contributed by both members and non-members from Korea.
Due to the ease of access from Korea, the conference attracted a sizable number of attendees; however, the nearby tourist attractions led many participants to spend time away from conference sessions. No particularly notable speakers were invited for this meeting.
The major significance of this conference was the establishment of a dedicated track for KSEA’s “annual meeting.”
