Major purpose at the beginning: To promote scientific cooperation between the U.S. and Korea
The idea of KSEA was first suggested by Prof. Young Bae Kim (the 4th President) of USC at a KIST Symposium held at Battelle Memorial Institute (Columbus, OH) in Sep 1968. The creation of KSEA in 1971 was greatly aided by Mr. Hyung Ki Kim, Research Coordinator (연구조정관) at MOST (현 과학기술정보통신부)
